Ewhurst History Society
Ewhurst History Society welcomes anyone with an interest in history, especially local history.
Lecture meetings, presented by local and visiting speakers, are held from September to May, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the EYSC building on the Recreation Ground. Members also enjoy outings to places of interest plus winter and summer social events.
The Society has built up a considerable archive of information on the history of the parish, including old photographs, maps and documents; transcripts of censuses, parish registers, tithes, etc.; and extensive notes on individual houses and biographies of Ewhurst people. Through our website we have been able to help with enquiries from all over the world, particularly people researching their family trees.
The Society has published five local history books. Our latest book, Ewhurst 1910 - 1960, published in 2021, covers both the First and Second World Wars, but is also a celebration of veryday village life in the early and mid 20th century. See our website for prices and special offers.
We also publish an on-line Journal, with articles by members on a wide variety of subjects relating to local and social history.

The Friends of St Peter & St Paul, Ewhurst
The Friends is a registered charity set up to raise money for the repair and restoration of Ewhurst’s historic “At Risk” church. They aim to involve the village and the wider community in everything they do. This involves promoting the history of the church and its role over hundreds of years as a symbol at the heart of the community.
The Charity raises money to preserve and repair the 12th century Norman church. In addition, the charity hopes to raise awareness of and increase the knowledge of the history of the church. All funds received are used to care for the church and the grounds of St Peter and St Paul. The next major restoration which is necessary is an overhaul of the south transept roof. This is failing in the same way as the chancel roof which has been repaired.
First and foremost, the Friends organise village events to which the whole community is invited. These are advertised as Friends events and any money raised goes into the Trust's funds. In this way, it is not only church-goers who are involved, but everyone who has an interest in maintaining Ewhurst Church. Secondly, people are invited to join the Friends so that they can be contacted via email to be kept up to date with their activities and lend support when needed, either by helping at events or financially.

EwCare
EwCare is a neighbourly village help scheme run by volunteers offering help to those in need in Ewhurst & Ellen’s Green. Our drivers are available to help with trips to local surgeries and hospitals as well as to and from events at the Cranleigh Art Centre. We appreciate as much notice as possible please.
Contact EwCare on 01483 277606 between the hours of 10am - 12 noon, Monday-Friday and speak to one of our duty officers.
Please do get in touch if you are interested in volunteering, as we are always looking for new drivers and duty officers.

Ewhurst LEAP
Ewhurst Local Environment Action People (LEAP) are an inclusive group of friendly volunteers working to improve the surroundings of our beautiful village through conservation, as well as raising awareness of wider environmental issues.
We usually have a working party once a month for a range of activities such as footpath clearing, pond maintenance or litter picking. Through initiatives such as sharing wildflower seeds at the Ewhurst Carnival, we engage others in wider issues that concern us all.

Ewhurst Henry Smith Trust
The Ewhurst Henry Smith Trust is financed through the main Henry Smith Trust in London. It was set up to give support to both the elderly, unwell and children in the village. As well as supporting children's groups and organised events for the elderly the Trust also provides for elderly people in the village who are in need of financial aid.

Ewhurst Horticultural Society
The Ewhurst Horticultural Society is the oldest active horticultural group in Surrey and has been serving the Ewhurst & Ellens Green community since 1881.
We hold three flower and produce shows each year and host a regular programme of talks, which aim to be both entertaining and instructive.
Our annual Plant Sale each May is immensely popular, and our fun Quiz Supper Evening in January is a gastronomic highlight. We also arrange at least one garden visit each summer, both locally and further afield.
We are affiliated to both the Surrey Horticultural Federation and the Royal Horticultural Society and can thus offer our members access to even more talks, garden visits and other events through the year.

Sayers Croft Trust
Sayers Croft is an outdoor education centre with 60 acres of beautiful woodland and many activities from pond dipping and den building, to high ropes and axe throwing. We run community events, holiday clubs, birthday parties, conservation days, events for children with additional needs and so much more. Ewhurst Bridge Club
